About Jeffrey O. Anglen, MD
Dr. Anglen is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and orthopaedic traumatologist. He graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, and received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his internship in general surgery as well as his orthopaedic surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and did a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Before coming to the Hughston Clinic, Dr. Anglen served as professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics at Indiana University, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Anglen is a fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, the American Orthopaedic Association, and other national and international organizations. Dr. Anglen has written numerous book chapters and published nearly 100 peer-reviewed articles in major orthopaedic journals. Additionally, he co-edited and contributed chapters to Prevention and Management of Common Fracture Complications, published by SLACK Inc. He currently serves on the editorial board of several scientific medical journals, such as Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma and Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a past president of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. He served 8 years on the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, and their trauma center Verification Review Committee. Dr. Anglen enjoys teaching and presenting his research at national and international meetings. He has been a visiting surgeon and teacher in Africa, India, and China and hopes to do more international orthopaedic trauma work in the future. His research interests include complex fractures, open wounds, and acute trauma management. He plans to continue working on these research topics through the Hughston Foundation, Inc.
